ABOUT THE TEAM

The Air Dominance & Strike team at Anduril develops aerial and multi-domain robotic systems. The team is responsible for taking products like Fury (unmanned fighter jet) and Barracuda (air-breathing cruise missile) from concept to product. The team also develops Lattice for Mission Autonomy, Anduril’s premier software platform that enables masses of Fury, Barracuda, and other first and third party robots to collaborate across various missions.Ā 

Anduril is seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the team at our Costa Mesa HQ. Here you will work on core product development for complex systems, including but not limited to optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate would be practical, hands-on and a self starter. WHAT YOU’LL DOĀ Ā Ā 

  • Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fieldsĀ Ā Ā 
  • IdentifyĀ partners in industry to engage with, and manage early vendor relationshipsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Perform trade studies and physics-based analysis of blue-sky engineering problemsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Manage internal and external market research and comparisonsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Design, implementation, and test of complex electro-mechanical systemsĀ Ā Ā 
  • High level system ownership with large levels of professional autonomyĀ Ā Ā 
  • Lead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plansĀ Ā Ā 
  • Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into productionĀ Ā Ā 
  • Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as neededĀ Ā Ā 
  • Travel to test sites as neededĀ Ā Ā 
  • Use first principles physics as a basis for every decisionĀ Ā Ā 
  • Wear many hatsĀ Ā Ā

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSĀ Ā Ā 

  • 5+ years of Mechatronics or Robotics design experienceĀ 
  • Experience in PCB design and any ECAD (Altium,Ā KiCAD,Ā etc)Ā Ā Ā 
  • Experience in Mechanical design for loads, stress,Ā mountingĀ and attachment fabrication.Ā Ā Ā 
  • Hands-on prototyping (soldering, board assembly, harnessing)Ā Ā Ā 
  • Experience with any: controls/actuation, robotics, and or motor/servo drive systems (BLDC/brushed motor controller design and servo control systems)Ā Ā Ā 
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, powerĀ conversionĀ and system integrationĀ Ā Ā 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manipulate schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.Ā Ā Ā 
  • High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principlesĀ Ā Ā 
  • Strong organizational skillsĀ Ā Ā 
  • BS, MS or PhD in an engineering field, or equivalent work experienceĀ Ā Ā 
  • Eligible to obtain andĀ maintainĀ an active U.S. Secret security clearanceĀ Ā Ā

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSĀ Ā Ā 

  • Experience in bare metal microcontroller design (STMicro, TI, NXP,Ā etc) from schematic toĀ bringupĀ Ā Ā 
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skillsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Familiarity with designing for rugged environmentsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Experience in bringing up device trees on embedded systems with a variety of connected sensorsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Experience with Electro-Mechanical and Electrical design conceptsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Experience in developing a variety of electronics hardware products (UGVs, wearables, firearms, high power electric propulsion, optical systems, or other complex mechanisms)Ā Ā Ā 
  • Experience in characterizing circuits at both schematic and board levelĀ Ā Ā 
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocolsĀ Ā Ā 
  • Experience with microcontroller wired communication protocols (USB, MIPI CSI2, SPI, I2C, CAN, CANFD, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485)Ā Ā Ā 
  • Practical experience with electrical engineering tools (Oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters)Ā 
US Salary Range
$146,000—$194,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
