Three rules catch almost every job scam. A real employer never asks you to pay for training, equipment or visa processing. A real employer never runs an entire hiring process over WhatsApp or Telegram. And a real employer never sends you money to buy your own laptop. If any of those three happens, stop.
1. A real employer never asks you to pay
Not for training, not for equipment, not for a background check, and never for visa processing. Sponsorship legal fees are the employer’s cost, which is exactly why so few companies sponsor. Any request for money is the end of the conversation.
2. A real employer never interviews only over WhatsApp or Telegram
A first message on a chat app can be legitimate, but a full hiring process that never touches a company email domain, a real video call, or a named person you can verify is not one.
3. A real employer never sends you money to buy your own equipment
This is a check-fraud pattern. The payment clears, you spend it, the payment reverses, and you owe your bank the money. No exceptions, no matter how normal it sounds.
