Senior Hardware Design Engineer (Schematic & Systems Focus)
Job Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About The Team
The Voyager team at Anduril Industries is an engineering and design division with vast experience in developing innovative computing and communications solutions for the network edge. We specialize in integrating enterprise networking capabilities from global IT leaders with purpose-built hardware and software platforms designed to meet the most stringent environmental requirements.
About The Role: The "Schematic Architect"
We are seeking an experienced "schematic architect" to fill a critical gap on our Dublin-based hardware team. To be clear, this is not a generalist hardware position. We are looking for a design leader whose primary passion and expertise lie in the early, conceptual stages of electronic design.
Think of this role as the architect who creates the blueprint (the schematic), rather than the builder who implements the physical layout (the PCB). While we value an understanding of the entire hardware lifecycle, your core mission will be to own the front-end design, create robust schematics, and make critical architectural decisions for our next generation of products.
This is a senior role with a high degree of autonomy, and we are open to shaping the position around the right person. You will have the opportunity to take design ownership of a key new project scheduled to kick off later this year.
What You'll Do
- Lead the schematic design and capture for new and existing hardware platforms, primarily using Cadence OrCAD.
- Own the front-end hardware architecture, including component research, selection, and block-level system design.
- Design, simulate (SPICE), and validate robust analogue and power supply circuits (SMPS, DC-DC, LDOs) to ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate closely with and review the work of PCB layout engineers to ensure your design intent is correctly implemented, guaranteeing signal and power integrity.
- Define and execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) plans to ensure products meet stringent performance and compliance standards.
- Perform hands-on debugging, testing, and root-cause analysis of hardware prototypes in the lab.
- Compile and manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support the transition from design to manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electronic product design, with a demonstrated focus on system-level architecture.
- Deep, proven expertise in schematic design and capture for complex digital and analogue systems. This is the most critical skill for this role.
- Proven experience with analogue, power supply (SMPS, LDO), and circuit protection design.
- Proficiency with a high-end ECAD toolchain (Cadence Allegro/OrCAD preferred) and circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, LTspice).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- A strong appreciation for PCB layout best practices, including high-speed signal integrity and power integrity principles.
- Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., x86 architectures, DDR, PCIe).
- Experience working in the defense, networking, or high-reliability hardware sectors.
- Working knowledge of Linux environments.
- Familiarity with designing for electrical and environmental compliance (e.g., CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH).
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package. Additionally, Anduril offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including:
