Job Description

We are excited to welcome an influential individual to our team who, through their leadership and presence in the community, can highlight builder success and spread passion for MongoDB. You’re ready to put a program in place that features community and team members on camera (and microphone), showing builders the possibilities of using our platform.

At the foundation of your passion and expertise is a love to equip others through video, social, and community channels. Our ideal candidate will have at least 12 years of experience in a builder role, such as a software engineer, architect, or developer, where they deployed data-solutions in production. Ideally, they will have additional experience in a customer-facing role (such as solution architect), teaching, or related technical role, where they’ve used code and content to support others.

Though the expertise you bring will be unique, our team is built to work together to share knowledge and help each other grow. You will work with others at all levels, elevating their influence, reach, and presence across our industry. You should have a genuine passion for equipping other developers to be more productive and successful.

Position Expectations

Below are examples of the types of work you will be doing. Your mix of activities will vary week to week based on priorities and event schedules.

  • Produce high-quality video, audio, and written content. You will create narratives that showcase our builders, and how they use MongoDB's capabilities, to motivate others to build applications using our platform
  • Build a portfolio of content, based on performance data and strategy, that likely includes recurring video series, adhoc, and timely content, that align MongoDB technical motions and emerging patterns in the industry
  • Support the creation of tutorials, articles, videos, and workshops along with their associated workflows or workflows or code examples
  • Highlight team, customer, and community contributions through social media, forums, and well-produced video
  • Provide guidance, peer and technical review of content
  • Work across teams to ensure content is placed in channels highly visible and influential to builders and agents
  • Provide feedback to our Product and Technology team, serving as the voice of the builder as new products are scoped and planned
  • Partner with our Community Team to support engagement with third-party and first-party user groups (MUGs), Champions, forums, and influencer programs across the region
  • Partner with our Customer Marketing team to evaluate customer stories and provide guidance on how we can best highlight their builders and their success with MongoDB
  • Collaborate with our events and field teams to engage community and customers at meetups, events, hackathons, and startup houses

Requirements

  • Expertise in building data solutions with MongoDB and/or related database technologies
  • Expertise with one or more complementary programming languages (Python or JavaScript preferred)
  • Prolific author of content (videos, tutorials, how-to guides, readmes) and associated code to help developers learn
  • Examples of pre-production and interview prep that ensures compelling on-camera discussions
  • Engaging presenter at in-person events, videos, webinars, or live streams
  • Active user of AI-assisted coding tools, holding opinions on best practices for AI for creating code and supporting content
  • Up to 33% of time traveling to community and customer engagements (like meetups, events, hackathons, and startup houses)
